Ruth Corman

Ruth Corman was born in Manchester, UK. As a mature student she gained an Honors degree in Sociology from Durham University. Today she divides her time between Jerusalem and London where she works as an art consultant for corporate and private buyers.

She has also held several exhibitions of contemporary applied arts both in Israel and the UK. She has a special love for ceramics which she has collected for many years. She has also lectured on ceramics and photography.

For 32 years she organized the biennial Alix de Rothschild Craft Award Scheme in Israel. Today as Director of the British Israel Arts Foundation Ruth continues with a scheme inviting top British craftspeople to Israel. The next guest will be Chris Keenan, a leading British ceramicist He  will give talks and demonstrate his skill at Tel Hai, the Israel Museum, Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv Museum.    His visit will take place at the end of February, early March 2019.

Ruth’s first major book was the autobiography of the late David Rubinger, 60 Years Through My Lens published in English, Hebrew and German. Her second book Unexpected Israel is a miscellany of cameos about Israel, focusing on the quirky, the humorous and the moving aspects of Israel society through her eyes. This coffee table style book has 86 stories and 160 of Ruth’s photographs. It is available through Gefen Publications and Amazon.
